  • Obamas Date Nite

Obamas Date Night, Yea, I know--a couple Planes, a few Helicopters, delays-delays-delays, not to mention the cost to the Taxpayer. Now--as one who rarely defends Obama, I must toss out my opinion. With all the hoopla about this "Date Night", one would think we have nothing more pressing to think about. As one who can drive to any theater, or diner without a swarm of people showing up--my cost for a "Night Out" is minimal--minus the Brews ETC. The President , on the other hand, needs a few more individuals surrounding him, the transportation etc. and all this does cost the Taxpayer--that's part of the deal--the one the people made when electing Obama or any President. I don't care for the high cost to the Taxpayer, however, it comes with the territory, that's the cost of supporting a High Profile individual like the President. Before condemning Obama on his "Date Night" (I know--He could have had it in Washington), Consider the vacations etc of other presidents. There--I defended Obama--Mark your calender!!

I'm sure we could come up with hundreds of examples, but I was personally at the Roanoke, VA, airport years ago when then President GHW Bush flew in to speak at the private and non-secular Falwell University. Airforce One flew in, transferred the President to one of 5 helicopters, and flew to Lynchburg, VA. The airport was closed for about 2 hours. I didn't have a problem with it then, but certainly there was comparable expense.

If I have an objection to Obamas' "night out" it is aimed at the media for "making news", and especially for not reporting other, perhaps more real, excesses.

And, at your request, I've marked my calendar.
