  • Megyn Kelly and Bernie, on Health Care..

Nationalized Health Care, a big push by the Obama Administration. Bi-partitionship, Obama spoke highly of this--the joining of minds from both parties. Bernie says there is no plan, and they do not know what it will cost when they come up with one. No Republicans in attendence, but they will get their turn. Do these people "Have a Clue" what they are doing? Megyn Kelly questions Bernie.........

Megan doesn't. She noted the World health organization's statements about problems in Canada and the UK, but here's the WHO's ratings:

    Quality Rank:
    UK 18
    Canada 30
    US 37

She noted the high cost, but here's the cost, per capita, in US dollars:
    UK $1461
    Canada $2312
    US $4178

Or, if you prefer, as a percentage of GDP:
    UK 8.3%
    Canada 9.8%
    US 15.3%

She said at least twice that Bernie should not interrupt her while she was reading her "facts" and that he would have a chance to respond - which he didn't get. My opinion is that he didn't get the chance to respond because FOX knew that her prepared statement was misleading, at best, and knew that Bernie would be able to show that.

The whole thing seems like a "Romper Room" Episode to me. I cannot imagine even agreeing to an interview when you know (Or Should Know), that the question of cost, or at least an estimate will be brought up. Not to mention some form of plan layout in question. This interview should have never happened until Bernie had something other than "Nobody Knows" to fall back on.

Certainly, the cost is important. But, at this point, FOX was laying the groundwork to claim the cost was too high based on failures and high cost in other countries. There is no Democratic plan, or Republican plan, so we have no idea what the cost will be.

    However, my point is twofold.

First, FOX's point that the non-existant plan was no good is foolish, since there is no plan, and since the examples of countries that FOX used as arguments against the non-existent plan do better than we do, for less money.

Secondly, this wasn't an interview by a newscaster. The news model spent more time reading her prepared and misleading statement than Bernie was able to get in the so-called interview. Even in the brief few seconds he got, all he could do was defend his thinking - but he they never gave him time to suggest what his thinking was.

It's clear to me, from my short time on this site that you know what a good interview is:

What do you think about ______?

    [long response]

But your opponents have said [brief summary] - how do you respond to that?

    [long response]

When the interviewer talks more than the interviewee - it isn't an interview. The news model could have read the statement someone gave her without Bernie being there, like Rush does, but then they couldn't have pretended to be a news show. In some ways, he's more honest in what he does.

It is plain to see on any News Network or Talkshow that the purpose of an interview usually is to "Slam" the individual or program etc that they support (Makes for good ratings). Many high profile people have made a great living taking advantage of the fact that they hold the "Talk" button. Bernie knew, or should have, that He was walking into the Lions Den--Yet--even with short periods of time that He had to speak, He was clearly unprepared--forced into statements like we don't have a plan, we don't have a clue of the cost is just "Fuel" for critics--He was not prepared for the interview, showing He did not know what He was doing.
