Yes--Obama committed to moving ahead on health care::

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says it's going to be very difficult to push a major health care overhaul through Congress.

But the president says he really thinks "the stars may be aligned" and that a deal can get done if everyone involved works in a spirit of compromise, rather than rigid ideology.

Obama tells C-SPAN in an interview airing Saturday that he's "absolutely committed" to keeping the process moving forward — to find ways to cut costs, increase efficiency and make sure families can get health care coverage without bankrupting them.

Obama says changing the health care system will cost a lot of money upfront — but in the long run end up saving lots of money.

I really have a hard time with this one. In general terms, I'm not in favor of socialized medicine. I am in favor of free market. However, I would argue that truely free market doesn't exist. Try to open a new car company, oil company. It is virtually impossible to open a small business without being in direct competition with a mega-corporation.

In more specific terms, I looked into health care costs. The US rated 30th, while spending the highest percentage of GNP on health care. Our costs are approximately double of, for example Canada (including Government, personal, and insurance payments), yet Canada rates higher, people live longer, and have more "healthy" years. I haven't been able to find any basis for the anicdotal "long wait" claims. Similar comparisons can be made with other countries, with similar results.

    Something needs to be done.

You're statement could not be any more true. I also am not supportive of socialized medicine--however, given the example you have presented--is it possible, that as with anything, any system is not totally not acceptable, nor is the condemnation of any part of any system always warranted. Is it possible that by eliminating the thought of total socialism, one can find something in socialism that truly works? Or is it possible that Capitalism is the only pure method---Your Thoughts???
